What is HYROX?

HYROX is a global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. It's designed to test your all-around fitness in a standardized format that's the same at every event worldwide.

The Race Format

Every HYROX race follows the same structure:

  • 8 x 1km runs
  • 8 functional workout stations between each run
  • Total distance: 8km running + 8 workout stations

The 8 Stations

  • SkiErg (1000m) - Full body cardio on the ski machine
  • Sled Push (50m) - Push a weighted sled down the track
  • Sled Pull (50m) - Pull the sled back using a rope
  • Burpee Broad Jumps (80m) - Burpee then jump forward, repeat
  • Rowing (1000m) - Standard rowing machine
  • Farmers Carry (200m) - Carry heavy weights in each hand
  • Sandbag Lunges (100m) - Walking lunges with sandbag on shoulders
  • Wall Balls (75-100 reps) - Squat and throw ball to target
  • Divisions

    • Open: Standard weights for recreational athletes
    • Pro: Heavier weights for competitive athletes
    • Doubles: Two-person teams alternating stations
    • Relay: Four-person teams

    Your First Race

    Tips for your first HYROX:

  • Don't start too fast - pace yourself on the runs
  • Practice transitions between running and stations
  • Know the station weights and requirements
  • Bring your own nutrition and hydration plan
  • Arrive early for equipment check and warm-up
  • The average finish time for first-timers is around 1:30-1:45. Focus on finishing strong!
