Freaks Run Club
Houston, TX
A genuinely civic-minded Friday-night crew that treats every run as a tour stop for a different Houston small business.
- Meets
- Fridays, 7:15pm — every week
- Where
- A different location every single Friday; posted weekly on Instagram, Strava and Heylo
- Pace
- No published pace bands. Stated policy: all ages, paces and abilities.
- After the run
- Built into the concept — they support a different local business every Friday, so the post-run spot is the whole point of the route.
- Size
- Peak weekly attendance of 150–200 runners, per the club's own About page
- Founded
- May 2020
Best for
Runners who actually want to see Houston instead of repeating one loop, and people who want their club to mean something past the mileage.
If you have never done this before
Free, no registration, explicitly all ages and abilities, and the route changes weekly so nobody has a home-field advantage.
Worth knowing: This is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit — EIN 88-4212858, named board, tax documents published on their own site. They were one of the first run clubs in North America sponsored by lululemon (2022–2024) and had raised nearly $20,000 for Houston non-profits as of late 2023.
